We engage with our clients in every step of the process starting from the idea of what a Home can be. This engagement ranges from creating construction program documents to establishing a realistic and healthy budget, ensuring a solid foundation, well-managed storm water, and the creation of integrated spaces with careful attention to the delicate and nuanced details. It can be an awesome journey!

Our Homes are an investment. This investment can be seen via two types of Building Equity: Market Equity and Quality-of-Life Equity. We place those two types of equity on equal footing. This investment is in Home, which can provide strong returns both for your market position and your love of living in your home.

There is an economy to the many decisions that accompany the design process. This economy is way more than monetary – it applies to many aspects including the magnitude and form with which we build. Often, the grandest gestures happen on a personal scale and we know that bigger is most certainly not necessarily better.

We judge the success of a project by how our clients feel when the construction is complete and they are in their new home. “Do we love our Home?” “Are we confident with the choices we made?” This is not sales; rather, it is about being relevant to our clients and building good-faith relationships over the long-term.

Our studio is where our team of architects, designers, estimators and planners toil and create graceful and efficient solutions for our clients. We engage with our clients in our studio collaboratively.

Our team of craftspeople, artisans and other trusted partners are deeply engaged in the construction site. This is where concept turns to craft. Our managers and our construction staff work hard each and every day with care and respect.

We take trees and transform them into bespoke pieces for our clients. Both from our clients’ properties and from our farm, we mill hard and soft woods so that special wood can become furniture, cabinetry and other one-of-a-kind details.

Once we have milled the wood, we sort and load it into our dehumidification kiln. We slowly, thoroughly dry the wood so it can be crafted into any number of designs. Controlling the moisture content of wood is critical to the craft.

We are designers and makers. We create a diverse array of wooden creations for our clients’ homes. From furniture and cabinetry to brackets and cutting boards, we leverage our shop and our fine craftspeople on behalf of our clients.

Contiguous to our wood shop, we have a full metal shop where we weld and forge steel. From custom railings and furniture to any number of practical fabrications that assist in the construction of our clients’ homes. The possibilities are practically limitless.

Our design practice extends from the outer boundaries of our clients’ properties all the way down to selections of paint & stain colors, tile and grout, wall & window coverings, fixture selections, and on and on to the last detail.

Contiguous to our office and design studio, our finishing and laminates shop is used for cabinetry, furniture, and small-scale steelwork.

Our design practice extends from the interior details all the way to the boundary of the lot. The connection between inside and the outside is pivotal to Living Architecture. From deck, patios, plantings, fences, gates, and storm water management, we place high regard in the design outside the house.
